The 11u Stout team wrapped up the 2019 season with a trip to Ballparks of America in Branson, Missouri. The team enjoyed a fun-filled week that included games on several of the legendary baseball fields that make up Ballparks of America. The park features replicas of 5 iconic baseball stadiums, including St. Louis, Wrigley, Fenway, Detroit Stadium, and Ebbets Field (Brooklyn). The boys enjoyed playing baseball games, competing in skills challenges, and all the fun that Branson has to offer.
The team completed pool play and was seeded in the silver bracket. A walk-off hit by Blake in the semi-final game set the tone for the championship. They faced off against a talented team in the final championship, where both teams hitting the ball all over the park. 11u Stout ended up losing 13-12 on a walk-off. Despite the loss, the boys had a great experience and enjoyed an unforgettable week in Branson.
The boys also competed in several skills challenges. Wesley entered the home run derby, with his dad Jay pitching to him and his teammate Blake catching. Wesley hit an absolute bomb that cleared the roof of the maintenance building behind the field. Best estimates put the hit at 320 feet!. That hit won the Longest Home Run competition and he ended up 3rd place overall in the home run derby.
When they weren’t on the field, the boys found plenty of other activities to keep them busy. No trip to Branson is complete without go-karts! The boys also escaped the Puzzle Parlour Escape Room and battled each other in Laser Tag. Overall, it was a great way to wrap up an amazing season.
Congratulations, boys! Way to represent Inside Edge Baseball Academy.
