Showcase Dave Silvestri Named SEC Legend

Dave Silvestri is recognized as the greatest shortstop to play baseball at Mizzou. His efforts earned him first-team all-American awards in 1987 and 1988. In 1988, he was also the starting shortstop on the U.S. Olympic team that won the gold medal at the Seoul Summer Games. His storied career continued after playing for three seasons at Mizzou when the Houston Astros drafted him. He played at the Major League level with the Yankees, Expos, Rangers, Rays, and Angels. After his playing career, Silvestri was a manager in the Tampa Bay Rays organization and the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

Player Profile – Grant Geren

Grant Geren is an all-around amazing athlete. In addition to setting the stolen bases record at Blue Springs South (2019) and being selected an All-Conference All-District, and All-State baseball player his senior year, he also runs a 4.3 40-yard dash in football. We sat down with the Maples Woods freshman to learn more about his experience playing baseball at Inside Edge.

Player Profile – Rylie Rokusek

Rylie Rokusek has earned several awards playing baseball and basketball, but he says the greatest one so far is signing a letter of intent to play baseball at State Fair Community College. The Holden, MO native is set to play for the Roadrunners starting this fall and took time to tell his experience of making it to the next level…and a great fishing story.

Player Profile – Ashton Paith

Ashton Paith has experienced a remarkable year. The Ray-Pec senior committed during his Junior year to play baseball at Washburn University only to later learn that he needed surgery on his throwing shoulder. The past year has challenged Ashton, both physically and mentally, but he’s weathered the storm and is ready to take on his last year at Inside Edge.
